Bring Your Child to Work Day National Bring Your Child to Work Day fell on April 22nd this year. In the U.S., Bring Your Child to Work Day is a working holiday intended to get boys and girls thinking about what career they might enjoy and to learn how dad or mom conducts business in the workplace. AWA and ATC-A team members were encouraged to bring their children to Aisin. Volunteers had a full day of fun planned to keep the kids entertained and interested in possible future careers. The day began with the children participating in an “Ice Breaker” activity to get to know one another. Later in the morning, the volunteers and parents took the children on a tour of the Testing Labs, which ended up being a huge success! They got to experience how environmental chambers work and were able to experience metal and microscopic testing first-hand. We may have even seen several future engineers within the group. Later in the afternoon there was a FIRST Robotics Team presentation. The team, which is sponsored by ATC-A, brought in their competition robot and demonstrated its capabilities. Parents also found the day to be enjoyable, as they were able to see how the robot operates. The day concluded having provided an enjoyable experience for both children and adults. Thank you to all of the volunteers, parents, and presentation speakers – without all of you, this day would not have been as big of a success.
Aisin Summer Games
It’s summertime so we all know what that means… it’s the start of the Aisin Summer Games! Frequently throughout the summer different events take place during the noontime lunch hour. The season already began with an exciting game of volleyball. Other scheduled events include basketball, football, soccer, tennis, table tennis, and the ever favorite, water balloon toss. If you’d like more information about participating, or would like a meeting request sent to you when the next event takes place, just ask reception to be put on the email notification. Enjoy your summer!
Clean-up Day
Each year Aisin holds a “Volunteer Clean-Up Day”, where Aisin staff members have the opportunity to help spruce up Aisin’s courtyard and walkways. This year, the clean-up day was held on Friday, May 28, and it began without any delays and ended up being another triumph for Aisin’s beautification project. Volunteers worked heartily to beautify the landscaping along the front of the building, and as a result the area looks much better thanks to all of the attention it received. Flowers were planted, plants were uprooted and redistributed, and rocks were rearranged. Now the garden at the front foyer entrance has been updated with Day Lilies, Japanese Iris, Salvia and Peonies. The Aisin crew worked hard to clean up and modify the flower garden at the front entrance, the walkway, the inner courtyard and the yard around the koi pond. Everyone who participated did a fantastic job. We can’t forget about the pinecones! Over 20 bags of pinecones were picked up and donated to local Boy Scouts and Girl Scouts organizations for children’s arts and crafts. Thank you to everyone who participated, and a big thank you to Tina Catenacci and Jim Thornley, not only for their steadfast work, but for organizing the day and leading yet another successful Aisin Volunteer Clean-Up Day!
Health Committee
The Health Committee has been very busy this year working to serve Aisin employees and offer healthy resources. We’ve had a positive response, and continue to add new people to the committee which has brought a fresh perspective and new ideas. Current programs we’re offering are Zoomba, Walking Club, Golf League, Fruit Day, and Presidents Fitness Challenge. See below for the committee leader that heads up each program.
Zoomba – Patty Alley The committee plans to have a speaker come in later this year and will be launching additional programs to aid employees in their health goals. Questions, comments, or concerns can be addressed to me at any time.
