Problem

Washtenaw county lacked a central resource for parents and educators to find all of the available youth arts & cultural programs and activities in the area.

Solution

With initial funding grants provided by Pfizer & The Michigan Council for Arts and Cultural Affairs, The Arts Alliance division of the Ann Arbor Area Chamber of Commerce, Ann Arbor Area Convention and Visitors Bureau and IAS collaborate to develop CultureZone.org. Washtenaw counties most comprehensive youth oriented arts and cultural programs & events database.

Project Scope

Develop and refine CultureZone.org concept through focus groups and presentations to the community. Design administrative and public Web interface, develop and integrate all back end database functionality with existing cultural events calendar members and design CultureZone.org as an enterprise model which may be applied to any community. Provide ongoing hosting of Web Application with IAS.NET ASP Host service. Maintain and continually provide additional features to CultureZone.org.

Application Summary

Parents seeking arts and cultural programs and activities for their children can search the CultureZone.org database by age group, category (drama, music, dance, etc), activity type (workshop, camp, event, etc) time slot and day(s) of the week. Event and Program developers can log in to the administrative area and easily create and update their organizations available programs for youth. The organizations may also use the information they have entered as a link from their own Web site to display all of the programs and events they offer. Online program and event registration is one of the next features to be implemented.
